Must-have Spring travel fashions
What to wear for Spring travel:
Capri Pants
Clamdiggers, pedal-pushers … whatever you want to call them, nothing says spring like these cute cropped jeans and pants. Not only are they perfect for exploring a new city all afternoon long, but they can work just as well for a more formal evening outfit when paired with a sweater or blouse. Don’t be afraid to experiment with bold colors and patterns like polka dots and stripes.
Spring Scarves
They’re quite possibly the easiest way to add a pop of color and pull together any spring ensemble in a pinch. Whether you’re planning on a day of sightseeing, shopping, or wine-sipping, they’ll help you look instantly cool and classy with almost no extra effort.
White Tennis Shoes
Comfort AND style! Slip on some old-fashioned Keds for a simple statement that won’t hurt your tootsies while you trek around town. If you’re feeling adventurous, snag a pair in your favorite color for a change from the basic white variety. Plus, these sneakers go with absolutely everything, making packing your footwear a breeze!
Jean Jackets
A classic denim jacket is the ideal piece of outerwear for those chilly spring nights when you want to take a stroll or dine al fresco — not to mention, it’s also a perfect pick for a funky cultural event like a concert, music or film festival.
Need to dress it up a bit, but want to spare the pain and agony of uncomfortable heels? Bejeweled or brightly-colored flats are the perfect balance between low-key and luxurious; casual enough to wear to brunch, yet stylish enough to wear to a cocktail bar with a cute dress in the evening!
Pastels
Sure, black is a timeless travel staple, but why not introduce some shades of peach, mint, lavender, or butter yellow into your wardrobe for a change? You might be surprised at how much a coral cardigan or powder-blue belt can lighten up your whole look.

Spring fashion essentials for students
Dressing to impress is every student’s dream, but unfortunately it is not always possible to hold the crown of the fashion icon on Campus (or FIOC). Bills, rent, food and going out all take foremost positions when it comes to buying the latest styles. What is quite agitating about being a student is that the latest season’s styles appear when you’re grasping the last £50 of your previous loan, and it’s another month or two until your bank account finally surfaces in the four-digit mark again.
Yes the occasional student discount is extremely welcome, but there are a lot of shops who don’t take pity on us poor students, making our shopping experience more complicated and upsetting our budgets for the week. Well as Spring is now officially upon us, it’s time to question how we can get strategic with our finances and bag those seasonal must-haves. For many, the next loan will appear in the next 3 weeks, so I’m going to tell you how to get more for your money!!
Pretty palette pastels
Sitting on the meadows last week, soaking the sun in to my pale skin while eating a Refreshers ice-lolly, I could not help but notice that many of the people around me resembled the delicious iced treat. Yep, this season’s colouring is Pretty Pastels. Stylish, yet gentle, composed yet authoritative, one of the biggest trends for Spring is pastel colors.
Although the pale colours exude femininity, they’re also perfect for those with edgier sensibilities, and of course, our men. Pastels radiate sophistication as well as being a welcoming, friendly and pleasing colour to feast your eyes on. Like clockwork, each Spring the sweet pastel shades emerge from the woodwork to brighten our spirits, as well as our wardrobes. S/S 2012 runway designers seemed to lift every colour from a Spring landscape and paint it across their collection, to be worn as Country Girl, 50s Chic, or even if your style changes with the weather.
Appealing pastels conquered designer collections, ranging from translucent tints to playful candied midtones, and the penetrating orange hues became a thing of the past, replaced by sweet melon tones and vivid vermilions. Neutrals and nudes fell into a softly muted look defined by their subtle shade, and Mint green stole the show for the must-have colour. Completely refreshing and liberating from the chains of the S&M trends witnessed A/W 2011, we can all release our inner-flirty female, or our inner-Chelsea male with this season’s beautiful pastel palette.
Pleated Skirts, Love trains, Bell Shorts & Cig Trousers
The key trousers to fashion this season offer infinite possibilities for gorgeous, cheap and cheerful ensembles! Last week I decided to channel my inner-Mia Wallace, twisted with a mix of candy colours when I wore cigarette trousers paired with a candy-striped shirt and tan-leather pumps. It was one of those colder Spring days, so I paired fashion with function according to this seasons catwalk. Cropped cigarette trousers/jeans and Slouchy carrot trousers have evolved as a wardrobe staple this spring, while balloon shapes offered an exaggerated alternative for those more daring trend-setters.
High-waisted hotpants are still in fashion as of the ‘70s and are a definitive wardrobe staple that all women should own! The Bell short came out on top on this season’s Runway, offering sculpture and curves to those with a more boyish figure. Knee-length shorts have transformed from your typical ‘board short’ to a sophisticated must-have, particularly when merged in a Chanel-esque suit with a twist.
Dipped Hems and Love trains
Love trains aren’t just appearing on our skirts anymore ladies, designers are cutting out – or lengthening, whatever you would prefer – everything that we wear. Soon we’ll be naked (I can see the men perking up now)! Spectacular high-low hems and floor-grazing trains, from ethereal gowns to tailored tops with gentle, lightweight fabrics that offer movement and cutaway jackets, coats and capes are pervading this Spring, allowing us to still stay a little warm on those nippy Spring afternoons.
And finally… Don’t forget about that infamous denim jacket you have hidden in the back of your wardrobe, or that you’ve yet to buy! It’s a classic.
Fear not though, as we have got you covered. Not only can you search for discounts in the student discount directory but you can also keep up to date with the latest fashion sales and deals in the student deals section of the site.
